Dr. Charles Kilo received his MD from Washington University School of Medicine. He served his internship and residency at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis and completed a fellowship in the departments of preventive medicine and metabolism at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis.
Dr. Kilo, Clinical Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine, maintains a private practice at the Center for Advanced Medicine at Washington University's School of Medicine in internal medicine and endocrinology. He is a pioneer in discovering and supporting, with research, the theory that normalization of blood glucose levels delays and prevents the development of the complications of diabetes. Dr. Kilo and Dr. Joseph Williamson, at the urging of Dr. Paul Lacy, created the Kilo Diabetes & Vascular Research Foundation in 1972 to study the effects of diabetes on the vascular system and begin a search for a cure of diabetes.
Aggressively treating people with diabetes to bring blood sugar levels within normal ranges is now the accepted treatment throughout the world. Dr. Kilo advocates self-monitoring of blood sugar for all of his diabetic patients. He has given life, time, and energy to the art of medicine and the care of patients.
Among his many professional activities, Dr. Kilo is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He is a long-standing member of the American Diabetes Association, and the American Medical Association. He continues to lecture extensively throughout North America, Europe, India, Australia, and China. |
